My day-to-day work is investment. As director of Korina Nova Limited in Dublin, I invest our own capital and structure selected projects across the European Union — that is the foundation of everything I do.
This advisory practice is an additional service, kept deliberately small. It exists for one kind of situation: when what an entrepreneur needs first is not capital — but a strategist who has survived the exact war they are entering.
I take on a small number of severe cases: entrepreneurs facing unlawful asset freezes, fabricated proceedings, institutional raids — situations where the usual advisers arrive too late, in the wrong order, working from theory.
The client gets one thing the market does not offer elsewhere: a strategist who has personally carried a business, a family and a fortune through seventeen years of state pressure — and arrived intact.
I left the army at the end of 1990. In January 1991, at twenty-one, I started my first company. I have never in my life had an employer. Building businesses is the only work I have ever done.
Over the following years I built across sectors and across borders — wholesale and FMCG, agricultural commodities out of Milan, cosmetics, retail, technology; companies in Bulgaria, Italy and the United Kingdom. I sponsored the football club of Popovo, the town I come from, and I owned Spartak Varna 1918 — the team and its assets — in the Bulgarian first division. In 2008 my wife and I founded the Blagodarya.bg charitable foundation, which is still running today. In 2020 RoboBIZZ — an AI platform for e-commerce built by a Bulgarian team, of which I was co-owner and director — took first place for Best Innovation at the E-commerce Germany Awards in Berlin.
In 2009 every bank account I held was frozen, and I was told to hand over the business. I refused. Seventeen years later it is still not over.
Nineteen years building. Seventeen years defending. That is my thirty-six years — and it is the reason this firm exists.
I am not going to describe the second half as an injustice. I will describe it as an education, because that is what it became.
Far more of everything that follows is decided there than anyone tells you at the time.
